The pen features a superb elephant trunk clip which is a nod to the elephants Barca rode to cross the Alps in 2,200 years ago. The trunk-shaped clip is set with stones while the accompanying elephant head is adorned with individually cut and hand-set gems, which required months of meticulous craftsmanship. As a quick lesson in the ancient history of sorts, Hannibal???s epic route is engraved on the forepart of the pen, showing his journey route from Carthage to Rome. Its solid gold nib is decorated with a design representing the Carthaginian deity Baal???Hammon and is adorned with two brilliant-cut diamonds.
