Clare Waight Keller made her Givenchy debut early on Sunday morning and showcased a collection for “a chic urban girl.” That meant strong-shouldered jackets, western boots, tiered monochrome prints and delicious dark denim. Keller described her first collection as being for: “Powerful girls. Girls that own their look.” The modernity came from lean silhouettes and abbreviated hemlines and Keller worked the cap sleeve for everything from crisp shirting to flounced silk dresses. Animal prints are already one of the season’s big trends but Givenchy put a sophisticated spin on it by making it monochrome. Coats came with abstracted stripes that looked like they were slashed by claws. Here are the looks we would add to our closet. You can view the full collection in our gallery.
