2017 was a great and transformative year for the world of beauty. There were massive collaborations like Gigi Hadid x Maybelline, Balmain x L’Oreal and Nars x Man Ray, and the Kardashian-Jenner clan ultimately spread their wings once more and invoked the power of social media for brand building in the digital age. And of course, there was the launch of Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty which single-handedly changed the makeup game… forever!
We turned to the Paris, Milan, London, and New York Fashion Week runways for the beauty trends to look that will dominate this year, and we are seeing them everywhere already.
In 2017 we said goodbye to Instagram eyebrows, blinding highlighters, dark lips, harsh contouring, faux freckles( we hope this is gone), and many more. Now, we say hello to glossy lips and other trends set to rock this year.
Less Is More
Skin is in. It’s time to put down the contour kits, brushes, sticks, and wands and go for a more natural look. Go for less makeup and more skin, rather than the over-contoured look. Tinted moisturizers are a great place to start.
The high shine lip product has been in our makeup bags since we were 13, and thanks to celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Rihanna our teen obsession is just as common as the swipe of red lipstick. The lipgloss selection comes in sparkling clears, pretty shades of pink, luminous nudes, punchy reds, and pops of purple which makes it more fun.
Ultra Violet Makeup
UltraViolet is the color of the year according to Pantone, and we predict it will be huge for 2018 in the world of beauty. We’ve seen that its deep royal purple-blue hue looks gorgeous on hair. We’d bet it’ll look just as stellar on our nails, lips, and eyes as seen on Tiwa Savage.
