5 SIMPLE SIGNS YOUR MAKEUP ROUTINE NEEDS TO CHANGE

Makeup is supposed to enhance your features, making you look and feel like yourself. Once it stops doing that, it’s a sign you might need to switch things up. Here are five signs that you need to change your make up routine, in order to feel – and look – like the very best version of you!

1. YOU DON’T KNOW YOUR BEST FEATURES

There is usually a specific feature on everyone’s face that they consider their best. For me, it’s my lips, so I love to try on and play around with different lipstick colours. Yours could be your eyes, cheekbones or even eyebrows; pick your favourite feature and enhance it. It will give you a boost of confidence.

2. YOU CONSTANTLY NEED TO TOUCH UP

The last thing anyone needs is to be in the bathroom every 30 minutes, powdering your face and re-applying lipstick. Invest in good-quality makeup products that can weather the storms of the day, and adopt a few useful techniques, such as using an eyelid primer before applying thick eyeshadow, to avoid creasing.

3. YOU BREAK OUT ALL THE TIME

This is a clear sign that your make up is doing you more harm than good. Using the wrong kind of makeup can cause you to break out, so if you notice a pattern, use the process of elimination to identify the problem. Also ensure you keep your make up brushes clean so that germs don’t build up, and avoid anything in your routine that isn’t doing your skin (a decent amount of) good.

4. YOUR MAKE UP LOOKS STREAKY, NOT BLENDED

If your make up looks heavy and streaky, it’s time to switch products, and learn to blend properly for a gorgeous, even look. For instance, if your eyebrows are too strong, use a soft pencil to fill them in, or switch your dark contouring powder for lighter, cream-based powder or bronzer.

5. YOUR ROUTINE GIVES YOU MORE STRESS THAN A DEADLINE

Contrary to popular belief, your make up routine isn’t supposed to cause you frustration. If yours is too complicated or involves too many steps or hours, you should switch to a simpler routine. Looking good shouldn’t be like fighting a battle.
