If you’re at all into Nigerian fashion then you have definitely seen Ifeoma Nwobu. For someone who has modelled for almost every luxury brand in Nigeria you can think of and can be seen in almost every fashion publication, in the span of 2 years, Ifeoma still thinks she has a lot more to do and grow in her line of work.
She is currently in school while she works studying Political Science. Her passion for politics and social development are her driving forces to eventually join the United Nations as an ambassador.
WHAT ARE YOUR HOBBIES?
My hobbies are talking. I like to talk a lot. I like to engage in very important conversations. I like to talk about politics, religion and all that God entails. I like to talk so much that I’m very convinced it is a hobby. Apart from that, I like to sleep a lot. When I’m not talking, I’m sleeping.
BIGGEST LESSON YOU GOT OUT OF MODELING?
Humility. I’ve learnt that different people have different seasons. So at the point you feel that you’re ‘popping‘, I’ve learnt to be very careful not to let things get to your head. Social media can let us get carried away with all the nice comments.
I’ve learnt hard work as well and try to juggle a lot of things together, and I’ve learnt how to take care of myself and my physical being, how to walk, dress and look after my skin.
WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO WITH YOUR PLATFORM?
I want to be able to motivate people and change lives. I may not be able to help everyone but as much as I can. And social media leverage that is produced from modelling is very useful because people know you and are always watching and are more likely to engage. I want to be the change that I want to experience, especially in the area of body positivity and self-confidence. I feel like I do a better job off social media, so most people are not aware, but I have plans of rebranding myself on social media.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?
I’m most proud of the fact that I am a Christian and that I boldly know God. That amidst all the distractions and ‘razzmatazz’ I’m still able to be in tune with God, and honestly it’s something to write home about because I am nothing without God. And so many times I’ve gone astray and he has pulled me back my ears. Not a Christian because of my religion but because of my genuine love for God.
IF YOU WEREN’T A MODEL, WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING?
If I wasn’t a model, I would be an activist, a politician, a professor and an ambassador.
I will still be all these things, just not right now. So right now I am Ifeoma the model but I will eventually evolve into being all these things.
